Overview

Following Norb's rescue, the monk advises Holland to hurry and take him to the Vodarac homeland if Renton and Eureka are attracted by their true feelings. Eureka sees Renton repaint over a scratch on the Nirvash and realizes how badly her own face is scarred. In a meeting with Gidget, Eureka becomes determined to try and use makeup to "look pretty for Renton". Meanwhile, Holland takes Renton aside to tell the boy yet another story from his past; the story of his relationship with his first love, Renton's sister, Diane Thurston.

Synopsis

The episode begins with a scene in Dewey's office in Capitol Hill. The colonel hears the Ageha children deliver Dominic's report detailing the battle in "Start It Up". Dewey decides to continue the use of the AFX Orange missiles to locate the nerve center of the Coralians. He departs on a new airship, defying the Sages' order to appear before them.

In his quarters on the Gekko, Holland discusses the plan to have Renton and Eureka pass the Great Wall, asking Norb for advice. Although he appears to simply gorge himself on pizza, Norb tells Holland to take them to the Vodarek temple, and to hurry.

In the hangar, Eureka is polishing the Nirvash when she discovers a scratch, comparing her own scars with it. Renton runs up and repairs the scratch on the Nirvash. When he finishes, he tries to show his handiwork to Eureka, but she is gone, replaced by Holland.

In the women's restroom, Gidget tells Eureka about makeup. In the bathroom, Holland recalls the day Renton stole his sister's shoes, telling the boy it was his first date with Diane. In the "Bon Marché" shop, Gidget and Eureka collect various cosmetic items. Holland tells Renton about how he met Diane before Renton was born, at a lift spot in a restricted area.

Since the first Summer of Love and Adrock's death, the military has been collecting his research data. Holland again meets Diane in Adrock's office, who tells him to call her. He attempts to call Diane, but is stymied by her grandfather Axel. Holland, through Dewey's influence, is able to obtain access to Adrock's office and documents for Diane.

In her quarters, Eureka tries to make sense of the paraphernalia that she gathered with Gidget. She studies the women on board the Gekko, taking notes on their makeup.

Holland continues his narrative, telling Renton about how Diane became obsessed with Adrock's research, spending long nights in her father's office. Holland tries to convince her to stop, saying that she should join her father if she wants to see him that badly. She disappeared soon after that, says Holland. He says that he cannot change the way he fights, but Renton can follow through with his own way of fighting. Holland then tries to pry some information about Renton's "progress" with Eureka, which leads to them suffering mild heat exhaustion. Hyperthermia is an acute condition resulting from excessive exposure to heat, it is also known as heat stroke or sunstroke.

Eureka surprises the crew with her makeup, but she quickly discovers that the reaction was not what she had in mind. Renton finds her hiding in the laundry room, and assures her that he loves her even if she doesn't use makeup. Talho reapplies Eureka's makeup, helping her learn to use it properly.

Dewey contacts Anemone on the Izumo, and informs the girl of a new mission. She accepts eagerly, over Dominic's objections.
