Overview

Dominic visits Bellforest in order to try to get information on the Thurston family. Meanwhile, Renton is still trying to cope with the Beams' deaths — and a startling revelation about Eureka.

Synopsis

The episode begins with a scene in Bellforest, where Dominic narrates how the recent changes in the world are proceeding exactly as Colonel Dewey planned. He visits the Adrock Thurston monument, placing flowers before the marker. He narrates that the changes all began in Bellforest, since it was here that the Nirvash gained a significant performance upgrade, and that the first Seven Swell occurred since the Summer of Love incident. Dominic crashes his motorcycle avoiding a little girl. He asks three girls (who happen to be Renton's classmates) if they know anyone who can repair his motorcycle. They lead him to Axel Thurston, who was the very person he was looking for.

Aboard the Gekko, Renton apologizes to Eureka for leaving her without telling her. He tells her about his life aboard the Swan, how the Beams wake up early every day to clean the ship's decks from bow to stern, and how both Charles and Ray lead healthy lives to ensure that neither one outlives the other. His cheerful tone turns to grief, and he again wonders why the Beams had to die in such a tragic way. Eureka answers that it was because she chose Renton, and because Holland swore to protect them both at all costs. She struggles with telling him why, but Renton says that she can tell him when she's ready.

Dominic introduces himself as "Renton's friend", and one of the girls produces an issue of ray=out, with a photograph of the cloudlike Coralian. After he tells Axel about his experiences with Renton, Axel quickly begins work on his motorcycle. Into the Nature is the 11th episode of the anime series Eureka Seven. ...

Moondoggie walks into the Gekko lavatory to find that everything inside has been cleaned to the point of sparkling. Hap, Hilda, and Matthieu discover that the corridors of the Gekko have likewise been cleaned and polished, and that Moondoggie was happily scrubbing the deck. The bridge is also in the process of being cleaned by Woz, Gidget, and Ken-Goh. They inform Hap, Hilda, and Matthieu that Renton and Eureka started the cleaning; Hilda and Matthieu join the effort.

After sunset, Dominic struggles to help Axel, and hears from Axel's excavator friend that all Thurston men, including Adrock, become engrossed in their work when it comes to machines. As Dominic tries to pry further, Axel departs to collect some parts, and Dominic hurriedly accompanies him.

In the Gekko infirmary, Hilda brings Talho some food that Renton and Eureka prepared. In the lounge, the crew enjoys the hearty meal. Renton apologizes to Hap, but Hap reassures the boy that he is a valued member. Talho confronts Renton, reminding him that Gekkostate is a group that fights a war. She proceeds to tell him everything about this war: It was started by his father, Adrock Thurston, who was a military technologist who believed that the planet was a sentient being called a "Coralian". But the investigations near the "Great Wall" resulted in many deaths suspected to be caused by the Scub Coral. As a result, the military command chose to destroy the Coralians instead, over Adrock's protests. He was certain he was correct, because of the presence of a humanoid Coralian: Eureka.

This revelation shocks Renton, Matthieu, Hilda, Gidget, Stoner, and Moondoggie. Talho continues, telling Hap to report on his investigation. Hap says that the military has established a unit specifically for the extermination of Coralians, who are developing a weapon that can penetrate deep into the planet's surface. Stoner produces a blurry photograph of the prototype weapon. Talho continues, saying that Holland started Gekkostate to protect Eureka, who is humanity's only link to all other Coralians. She warns Renton that continuing to be with Eureka as he is will mean that he is an enemy to the world government, but Renton chooses to stay, despite the risk.

Talho smiles and orders the ship to head for Tresor, a military research lab capable of repairing and upgrading the Nirvash. As the crew heads back to their posts, Hap relays orders to them. Eureka admits to Renton that she was afraid he would reject her if he knew the whole truth, but he reassures her that she has been special to him since they met.

Axel finishes the repairs to Dominic's motorcycle. Before the young man leaves, Axel asks Dominic to look out for Renton, and tells him that he is welcome at his garage any time. Moved by Axel's kindness, Dominic rides away from Bellforest. As the crew departs for Tresor, Holland regains consciousness.
